Sampah organik merupakan sampah yang paling banyak terbakar diikuti dengan sampah plastik, kertas, tekstil dan lain sebagainya. Pembakaran sampah tergantung dengan kondisi sosial-ekonomi suatu daerah. Dampak pembakaran sampah tidak hanya berakibat kepada manusai melainkan juga ke lingkungan. Hal tersebut disampaikan oleh Dr. Eng. Bimastyaji Surya Ramadan, S.T., M.T. dalam acara Kuliah Tamu untuk mahasiswa dan dosen di Institut Teknologi Yogyakarta dengan tajuk “Pembakaran Sampah Terbuka dan Insiden Kebakaran TPA-TPA di Indonesia: Upaya mitigasi dan aksi responsif pada bencana” pada hari Jum’at, 8 Desember 2023.
